Qualifications

  • Logistics/coordinator experience is required or preferred.
  • Experience in fast-paced or changing environments within logistics.
  • Familiarity with northern routes and remote communities is a plus.

The Role

As a Freight Forwarder with BBE’s Domestic Team, you will coordinate shipments across Canada with a strong focus on service to northern and remote communities. You will help ensure freight moves safely, accurately, and on time by planning ahead, communicating clearly, and adapting to changing weather, carrier schedules, community access, and customer needs. Success in this role requires practical freight forwarding experience, sound judgment, and an understanding of the unique realities of shipping into the North, including the importance of reliability, relationship-building, and familiarity with northern routes, communities, and service expectations.

You will work closely with internal teams, customers, carriers, and community partners to support safe, accurate, and timely movement of freight.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage file administration for all freight forwarding jobs as directed by the supervisor, including but not limited to file opening, quoting, invoice approvals, file management, and job close-out/push to accounting.
  • Plan,coordinate, and oversee freightforwardingshipments,establishschedules and procedures with vendors, resolve operational issues, prepareperformanceand progress reports, and collaborate with supply chain partners and agents to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Review the costs associated with each shipment or project and work to reduce our costs/improve our margins wherever possible.
  • Develop and maintain client, vendor, and agent relationships.
  • Maintain the highest level of customer service, including customer retention, satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Proactively report DATS investigations related to safety concerns, carrier performance issues, missing shipments, or claims.
  • Contribute to amonthlyField Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA)to contribute to a healthy safety culture.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule for evening and weekend coverage after the probationary period/after 6months of employment.
  • Provide proactive insights based on customer operational data to assist the client and business success.
  • Carry out assigned responsibilities with accuracy, accountability, and urgency.
  • Anticipate issues and contribute practical solutions before problems escalates.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to support smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement in how work is done.
  • Represent BBE with professionalism and integrity.
  • Other duties may arise from time to time.
What You Bring
  • Logistics/Supply Chain education preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience asa logisticscoordinator.
  • Experience with learning different systems and understanding technology.
  • Knowledge or background in the supply chain through Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon is an asset.
  • CIFFA training is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced or changing environments.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service.
  • Comfortable speaking with customers over the phone and leading conversations in customer-facing settings.
  • A sense of ownership—you follow through on commitments.
  • A collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • A willingness to adapt and learn as priorities evolve.
