Founding Business Development Representative

About Talin : Talin is a Toronto-based tech startup building AI-enabled applications for staffing and recruiting automation. Having recently closed our first round of funding, and crossed some significant revenue milestones, we're expanding our sales team to drive the company's next phase of growth.

About this role : We're seeking a driven Business Development Representative (BDR) who loves connecting with people and thrives on outbound prospecting. You'll play a vital role in growing our pipeline while learning rapidly, working hard, and celebrating successes along the way.

Your focus will be reaching out to new prospects through multiple channels, setting up meetings, and collaborating with the sales team to convert opportunities into business. You'll receive comprehensive support while maintaining the autonomy to own your work and directly impact our growth.

It is likely that the majority of quota here could be filled with inbound meetings, we’re also eager to unlock cold calling as a new channel for us, given how well it fits into the recruiter’s persona - they pick up the phone; so expect a mix of cold calling, prospecting with research, and handling inbound leads.

Some of the things you'll be doing :

  • Actively prospecting potential customers via phone, email, and social channels
  • Qualifying inbound leads and scheduling meetings for the sales team
  • Engaging prospects on free trial to move them down the funnel
  • Collaborating closely with the CEO and customer success teams
  • Learn from a growth minded team that embraces automation and moving fast
  • Quota carrying on number of meetings booked / week
  • Closing smaller deals sizes end to end

Who we're looking for :

  • 1+ year in a sales, business development, or outbound prospecting role
  • Strong phone skills are a must have (you don’t need to be Chris Voss, but confident and well spoken)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment

What we’re offering :

  • Toronto-based (Hybrid, in-office 3 days per week) at our Yonge-Dundas office - please do not apply if you’re looking for remote only.
  • Base salary range of $50-60k, with $80k OTE
  • Equity package
