Job summary

Yee Hong Centre For Geriatric Care is seeking a dependable Food Service Worker to assist in meal setup, delivery, and safe kitchen sanitation. The role requires following diet orders, handling nourishment, and keeping the kitchen clean while supporting residents and staff in a fast-paced environment.

Applicants should have a recognized Food Service Worker Program and a valid Food Handler Safety Certificate.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of, or currently enrolled in a recognized Food Service Worker Program.
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Some experience in food services industry.
• Ability to lift heavy industrial size food trays, pots and pans.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English; Chinese an asset.

Responsibilities

• Sets up, delivers and serves meals according to client preference and diet order.
• Prepares and delivers nourishment and special orders according to diet order and client preferences.
• Wraps, date-labels and stores food items.
• Cleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans and cooking equipment.
• Maintains production, dish washing and dining areas in a safe, clean, organized condition.
• Performs general cleaning duties including floors.
• Receives deliveries and checks for accuracy; reports replenishment needs.

Responsible for the delivery of meals, portioning and serving dessert, dishwashing, cleaning and sanitizing of cooking equipment, pots, pan and small dishware as well as general and special cleaning in the kitchen in accordance with government and organization policies and standards.Responsibilities:Sets up, delivers and serves meals according to client preference, prescribed portion sizes and diet order in an accurate, timely, orderly and safe manner. Prepares and delivers nourishment and special orders according to diet order and client preferencesWraps, date-labels, and stores food itemsCleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, dishwares and cooking equipment efficiently and thoroughly as assignedCleans production area, stove, refrigeration area, dish and pot washing areas, dining room and servery and maintains them in a safe, clean and organized condition. Performs regular cleaning duties including floor cleaning as assignedComplies with risk management policy for health and safety and GHSFollows protocols (e.g., temperature logs) to comply with standards from Ministry, public health and other regulatory bodiesFollow protocols on rotation and utilization of stock and inventoryPerforms general and special cleaning duties (deep cleaning, refrigerator, blue bin, handwashing sink, work table, etc.) as assignedRemoves garbage from the kitchen before end of shift, maintains garbage container, clean linens, and folds cardboard boxesOrganizes janitor room, monitors chemical supplies and makes timely report to Manager forreplenishmentReplenishes sanitary supplies as appropriateReceives delivery of goods and ensures accuracyKeeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the fieldOther duties as assignedQualifications:Successful completion of, or is currently enrolled in a recognized Food Service Worker ProgramCurrent Food Handler Safety CertificateSome experience in food services industryAbility to lift heavy industrial size food trays, pots and pansAbility to work in a fast paced environmentSatisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector ScreenAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
