Job summary

Yee Hong Centre For Geriatric Care in Markham, Ontario is seeking a Casual Part-Time Cook II to prepare and serve quality meals for residents, following Ministry, Public Health, and other regulations.

The role requires a Chef Training diploma or related culinary qualification, a current Food Handler Safety Certificate, and a minimum of 3 years of institutional cooking experience. English communication is essential; knowledge of Chinese is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of Chef Training diploma or related culinary qualification (e.g., Culinary Management, Cook, Food and Nutrition).
• Current Food Handler Safety Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years institutional cooking experience.
• Familiarity with Asian cuisine; wok experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety standards in food service.
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen.
• Ability to communicate in English; knowledge of Chinese is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food and snacks according to requirements, ensuring appetizing appearance.
• Pre-prepares menu items (regular and vegetarian).
• Inspects and tastes food for quality; portions and serves to residents.
• Maintains cleanliness of production areas, equipment and storage areas.
• Monitors refrigerator/freezer temperatures and food safety logs.
