Job summary

GEF Seniors Housing in Edmonton is seeking a part-time cook for evening shifts (4 PM to 12 AM) on a 3-week rotating schedule. The role involves food preparation, cooking, baking, portioning, labeling, and assisting with meal services at McQueen Place Lodge. Candidates should have strong English skills and customer-service orientation.

Location: Edmonton AB. Pay scale: $19.62–$23.79 per hour. Benefits are included as part of the comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication skills are required.
• Experience in food preparation is a plus.
• Experience as a server in a dining room is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation, cooking, baking, portioning and labeling food.
• Cleaning kitchen areas and equipment; dishwashing; preparing meals, beverages, sandwiches and snacks.
• Assisting with meal services and other site-specific duties as assigned.

Details: Part time, Evenings, 30 hours per week, 4P to 12AM, 3-week rotating schedule

Schedule

Week 1: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Week 2: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Thursday

Week 3: Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

Pay Scale: $19.62 - $23.79 per hour

Location: McQueen Place Lodge, 10938-142 Street NW, Edmonton AB, T5N 2P8

Typical Duties: Food preparation, cooking, baking, portioning and labeling food, cleaning kitchen areas and equipment, dishwashing, preparing meals, beverages, sandwiches, salads and snacks, peeling and chopping vegetables, assisting with meal services and beverages, and other site-specific duties as assigned.

Experience/Education Preferences

• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal are required
• Experience in food preparation and baking is an asset
• Experience as a server in a dining room is preferred

Other Requirements

• Strong customer service skills, including the ability to interact with everyone in a respectful manner
• Ability to read and follow standard recipes and work in a sanitary manner
• Ability to demonstrate responsible judgement in problem solving
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
