Job summary

GEF Seniors Housing is seeking casual staff to cover kitchen/dining room and housekeeping duties across our Edmonton locations. Flexible, dynamic shifts are available, with mileage paid for travel between sites.

Strong English communication skills and experience in food preparation or dining service are assets; training can be provided. The role offers hourly pay between $19.05 and $23.10, with mileage reimbursement for site travel.

• Experience as a server in a dining room and performing commercial housekeeping is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Kitchen duties: food preparation, portioning, labeling, cooking, baking, cleaning kitchen and dining areas, dishwashing, preparing meals and snacks.
• Dining Room duties: greet residents, serve meals/beverages, set/clear tables, assist with buffet and attendance checks.
• Housekeeping duties: clean common areas, dining room and kitchen, disinfecting, floor care, laundry, restocking, and cover front desk as needed.
• Respond to emergencies as needed.
• Attend to unscheduled cleaning needs in residents' units and cover front desk when required.

Details: We are looking for a number of individuals that are interested in a flexible, dynamic role, providing shift coverage for our kitchen/dining room and housekeeping positions across our different locations throughout Edmonton.

Pay Scale: $19.05 to $23.10 per hour

Location: GEF locations throughout Edmonton. (Travel between sites may be required, mileage paid)

Schedule: There are no regularly scheduled shifts as a casual employee; however, a variety of shifts are available based on the needs of the organization.

Typical Duties

Kitchen duties: food preparation, portioning and labeling food, cooking, baking, cleaning kitchen areas, dining areas, and equipment, dishwashing, preparing meals, beverages, sandwiches, salads and snacks, peeling and chopping vegetables.

Dining Room duties: greeting the residents, serving meals and beverages, setting and clearing tables, assisting residents at the buffet table as needed, assisting with meal attendance checks, and other site‑specific duties as assigned.

Housekeeping duties: cleaning common areas, dining room and kitchen, disinfecting, floor care, laundry, and restocking supply areas, dealing with resident issues and emergency as required and other site‑specific duties as assigned. On an as‑needed basis, this position will also attend to unscheduled cleaning needs in residents' units and will cover the front desk when required.

Experience/Education Preferences

• Strong English communication skills are required, both written and verbal
• Experience in the area(s) of food preparation, serving meals, baking, or cooking is an asset
• Training can be provided
• Experience as a server in a dining room and performing commercial housekeeping is preferred
