Job summary

Interior Health Authority in Vernon, BC is seeking a casual Food Service Worker to join the Vernon Jubilee Hospital dining team. You will portion, serve and assemble meals, assist with food prep, and deliver meal carts in a fast-paced setting.

Shifts rotate across days and evenings (early mornings to late afternoons). Casual employment means hours vary from 0 to 37.5 per week, with on-site duties and opportunities to contribute to a supportive hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service is preferred.
• Ability to serve meals in a fast-paced dining environment.
• Good interpersonal skills and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Portioning and serving meals and beverages in dining/cafeteria areas.
• Weighing and measuring ingredients for food prep.
• Washing and peeling vegetables and fruit.
• Assembling beverages and food items for meals and Meals on Wheels.
• Setting up and delivering meal carts.
• Cleaning food service areas.

About The Job

• Portioning and serving meals and beverages within a dining room and/or cafeteria operation.
• Counts, weighs and/or measures ingredients for assigned food preparation area.
• Washing and peeling vegetables and fruit.
• Assembles beverages and food items - tea, coffee, sandwiches, salads, bag lunches, items for Meals on Wheels program.
• Setting up and delivering meal carts.
• Cleaning of food service areas.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

Shifts of work will be days and evenings rotating from 06:15 to 14:25, 06:40 to 14:48, 07:30 to 15:40, 09:08 to 17:18, 11:00 to 19:10 hours.
