Job summary

Chances Cowichan Casino in the Cowichan Valley seeks a full-time Server to greet guests, take orders, relay instructions, and serve meals with a friendly, engaging demeanor.

You will handle payments, balance cash, and maintain a clean dining area while possibly cross-training in other areas of the facility. The role requires day, evening, and weekend availability and offers a great tip pool and lively atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Exceptional customer service and resolution skills.
• Understand customer needs including responsible gambling.
• Excellent communication skills and courteous in any situation.
• Ability to do basic, quick math.
• Experience with Squirrel system and a current Food Safe certificate an asset.
• Accurately accept and count cash and make change.

• Able to stand for long periods in a noisy environment.
• Basic computer skills for training and cross training.
• Current Serving It Right certification required.
• Must be 19 years of age or older.
• Must pass a background check for Gaming Worker License.
• Must be legally able to work in Canada and reside within commuting distance.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests in a personable, professional and entertaining manner while understanding the diversity of players.
• Take orders and payment, deliver meals to tables, return dishes to kitchen and operate dishwasher as needed.
• Remain calm and in control when events such as multiple orders occur.
• Maintain awareness of environment and safety around equipment/appliances.
• Stock supplies, keep area clean and balance cash at end of shift.
• Clean and sanitize tables and chairs between patrons.
• Respond to inquiries regarding menu items, promotions, and services at Chances Cowichan.
• Address potential safety hazards and report to shift manager.
• Undertake other tasks and housekeeping duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Food & Beverage Manager or designate, this position ensures each guest is attended to in a courteous and timely manner. Our Servers take meal orders and relays special instructions to the kitchen staff. Then they serve the meals to the guest and clears and cleans tables and chairs afterwards. They take payment and accurately complete their shift paperwork. With the possibility to cross training in other areas, the candidate must be available days, evenings and weekends. We have a great tip pool, wonderful patrons and a friendly staff.
