Job summary

Great Canadian Entertainment in Sydney, Canada is seeking a friendly, customer-focused server to seat guests and provide food and beverage service across restaurant, casino floor, bar, or events. You will record daily sales on the POS system and support a safe, welcoming work environment.

The role requires high school diploma or equivalent, cash handling and POS experience, and excellent communication and teamwork. Bilingual English/French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provides exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers in an upbeat, positive and professional manner
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of all food and beverage items available at the restaurants
  • Inform guests of specials and menu changes
  • Take food and beverage orders from guests, enter orders in our point-of-sale system which relays orders to the kitchen and bar
  • Deliver food and beverages from kitchen and bar to guests in a timely manner. Make recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy
  • Help to maintain clean service areas
  • Be knowledgeable with the current food and beverage programs, incentives and customer concerns by regularly liaising with the F&B Manager and Supervisor
  • Answer general questions about our food, beverages and other restaurant functions and services in the premise
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the F&B Manager and Supervisor
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests,ownership and employees)
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Work Environment Considerations
  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables;
  • This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.
  • The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
