Job summary

Great Canadian Entertainment is seeking a server to greet guests, take orders, deliver food, and ensure guest satisfaction in a casino/restaurant environment in Canada. The role covers counter service, dining rooms, buffets, bars, and events, with responsibilities including opening/closing duties and cash handling where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Serving it Right Certification.
  • Ability to obtain Gaming License via IGC Office.
  • Ability to exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests by name where possible.
  • Escort guests to tables, present menus, mention specials.
  • Explain menu items and beverages preparation.
  • Take guest orders and make recommendations.
  • Serve guests and check satisfaction.
  • Prepare food and beverages where applicable.
  • Resolve guest issues or escalate to management.
  • Handle payments when needed and clear tables or counters.
  • Deliver food to hotel rooms as directed.
  • Perform opening or closing duties as required.
  • Count cash at end of shift when applicable.
  • Cover other servers sections when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety.

Key Accountabilities
  • Greets guests by name wherever possible
  • Escorts guests to a table when applicable; presents menus; informs guests of daily specials
  • Explains how various menu items or beverages are prepared
  • Takes the guest orders; makes recommendations
  • Serves the guests; checks to ensure satisfaction
  • Prepares food and beverages if applicable
  • Resolves guests issues or asks management for assistance
  • Presents bill upon request; takes payment in the absence of a cashier
  • Cleans table s or counters; removes dishes; re-stocks where applicable
  • Delivers food to hotel rooms as directed; obtains signature; removes used trays
  • Performs opening or closing duties as required
  • Counts cash float at end of shift when applicable
  • Covers other servers sections when required
  • Exercises good judgment when serving alcoholic beverages
  • Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
  • Develops and cultivates st rong working relationships with all stakeholders: guests, ownership and team members
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed
Education And Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1 year serving experience and effective, service-oriented communication
  • POS experience
  • Serving it Right Certification
  • Ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License via Independent Gambling Control Office
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations
Work Environment Considerations
  • Regular casino environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, non-traditional work hours.
