Job description

We are looking for an experienced Floral Designer to join our growing business. This role’s responsibilities include leading the creative vision and execution of floral designs in our shop, creating high-quality arrangements, mentoring junior designers, and ensuring the overall aesthetic standards of the shop.

The ideal candidate possesses advanced floral design skills, a strong sense of creativity, and leadership abilities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Create sophisticated and visually appealing floral arrangements for various occasions, including weddings, events, and everyday orders
• Develop unique and innovative floral designs that align with current trends and customer preferences
• Oversee the design and assembly of large-scale floral installations and custom orders
• Ensure the highest quality standards are met in all floral creations
• Lead and mentor a team of junior floral designers, providing guidance and training on design techniques and best practices
• Assign tasks and oversee the workflow to ensure efficiency and quality
• Foster a collaborative and creative work environment
• Consult with customers to understand their floral needs and preferences
• Provide expert advice on floral selections, arrangement styles, and event planning
• Handle high-profile and custom orders, ensuring customer satisfaction
• Monitor and manage floral inventory, ensuring an adequate supply of fresh flowers and design materials
• Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality flowers and negotiate pricing
• Oversee the processing and care of floral shipments to maintain freshness and quality
• Maintain and enhance the visual appeal of the shop through creative displays and seasonal decorations
• Ensure the shop is clean, organized, and welcoming to customers
• Assist with the creation and maintenance of promotional displays and marketing materials
• Maintain accurate records of sales, orders, and customer preferences
• Assist with budgeting and financial planning related to floral design projects
• Participate in inventory counts and help manage stock levels
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive experience in floral design, preferably in a leadership role
• Strong knowledge of floral design principles, flower varieties, and current trends
• Excellent creative and artistic skills with attention to detail
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
• Outstanding customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Education and Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in floral design, with demonstrated expertise in leading projects and managing a team
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand during scheduled shift, withstand repetitive walking, reaching, and bending for long periods of time
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds at times
