Job summary

Autism Services in Canada is seeking a flooring installer to read blueprints, measure and cut underlay, install carpeting and hardwood, and prep floors for installation. The role covers surface preparation, testing, removal of old coverings, and finishing touches on walls or surfaces where required.

You will work with various flooring materials, operate knee kickers, follow safety guidelines, and contribute to a welcoming, youth-friendly workplace through company programs and mentorship

Responsibilities

• Inspect, measure and mark surfaces to be covered
• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
• Measure, cut and fasten underlay and underpadding
• Prepare flooring plans and scheduling
• Measure, cut and install carpeting on floors
• Measure, cut and install resilient floor coverings
• Prepare and install hardwood floors
• Inspect and repair damaged floor coverings
• Conduct moisture, ph, temperature and other tests prior to flooring installations
• Prepare floors for installations
• Remove existing floor coverings and contaminants
• Install carpeting on walls or other surfaces
• Employ knee kickers and other equipment to stretch carpeting
• Install materials on counter tops and raised platforms
• Install vinyl decking materials
