Job summary

The Salvation Army in Calgary seeks a Health Care Aide to support patients under RN supervision, delivering compassionate daily care in accordance with care plans. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and coordination within an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring vital changes, and supporting medication delivery while upholding the organization’s mission and values. Shift work and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent plus a Health Care Aide or Personal Care Attendant Course required (or other provincial regulations).
• Certification in First Aid and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, compassionate assistance with activities of daily living.
• Observe and document changes in physical, emotional, or cognitive condition and report concerns to nursing staff.
• Support safe delivery of pre-packaged medications and assist with non-invasive health interventions.
• Assist with meal preparation, tray delivery, feeding and documentation of food intake.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized client environment and ensure equipment functionality.
