Job summary

Michels Canada is Hiring a Manager of Equipment and Yard Operations in Nisku, AB. Full-time, permanent role leading the equipment fleet and yard operations to support project delivery with a strong safety culture.

You will plan and coordinate equipment allocation, maintenance, inventory, and yard activities while balancing day-to-day needs with long-term asset performance and cost objectives. Extensive leadership and ERP experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field; 10+ years of relevant experience.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in equipment management, fleet, yard operations, or related environments.
• Strong knowledge of equipment lifecycle management, maintenance planning, procurement, and asset utilization.
• Experience managing budgets, capital planning, and cost control in a complex operational environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills required.
• Experience with ERP or equipment management systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong safety culture across employees, vendors, and customers and ensure compliance with policies.
• Lead equipment and yard operations, including allocation, warehousing, inventory control, and transport coordination.
• Develop staff through recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations.
• Oversee equipment lifecycle management from procurement to disposal.
• Ensure equipment reliability through preventive maintenance and coordinated repairs.
• Manage yard operations and inventory for efficient organization and availability.
• Develop operating and capital budgets with forecasting and cost control.
• Lead procurement and vendor management to optimize cost and service.
• Track equipment performance, utilization, costs, and KPIs for decision-making.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Procurement, IT, and field teams on planning.
• Oversee systems and process improvements for tracking, maintenance, and reporting.
