Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to lead daily fleet maintenance, ensure safe and reliable operations, and manage maintenance vendors. You will work with Operations, Safety, drivers, and management to drive continuous improvement, align budgets, and supervise maintenance staff.

Located in Edmonton, the role requires hands-on leadership in a fast-paced environment with a focus on safety, cost control, and equipment performance across ready-mix

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in fleet maintenance or industrial settings.
• Minimum 3 years in an industrial or operational environment.
• Proven ability to lead a maintenance team and manage day-to-day activities.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety and preventive maintenance practices.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance safety, availability, and cost effectively.
• Strong communication and collaboration with mechanics, drivers, ops, vendors, and management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Ready-Mix truck fleet and related equipment.
• Direct and supervise daily mechanics and maintenance personnel, assign work, and monitor performance.
• Manage preventive maintenance program and ensure inspections and repairs are completed on schedule.
• Coordinate repairs by external vendors and approve appropriate actions.
• Monitor fleet condition, reliability, and maintenance trends; support utilization decisions.
• Review driver inspection reports and address maintenance concerns promptly.
• Respond to emergency maintenance situations to minimize disruptions.
• Oversee purchasing of parts, supplies, and external repair services.
• Control maintenance costs in line with budgets and guidelines.
• Use CMMS, TMW, and other systems to review activities and monitor performance.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management of maintenance staff.
• Provide coaching and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Lead monthly safety meetings and toolbox talks; coordinate with Safety Department on injuries.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities for fleet reliability and maintenance processes.
