Job summary

Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs is seeking an Indian Day School Advocate to support First Nations families with services and referrals, coordinating with federal and provincial contacts. The role emphasizes sensitive communication, privacy, and teamwork to deliver resources and referrals for children, youth, and families.

Required is a social work-related degree, knowledge of PHIA, and experience with First Nations communities.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Social Work or equivalent.
• Knowledge of PHIA and privacy practices.
• Experience working with First Nations communities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
• Current satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Child Abuse Checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist First Nation families with services and referrals.
• Coordinate resolution processes with federal/provincial contacts and local First Nations resources.
• Explain health interventions and learning plans to clients and families.
• Involve families in developing care and support plans.
• Refer clients to community organizations as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and manage case files per PHIA.
• Collaborate with EUTC Director of Service Delivery and provide reports as required.
