Job summary

Manitoba Chiefs seeks an Auntie to support First Nations families in Reunification Homes, providing culturally appropriate assistance 24/7. You will help families with living skills, personal care and therapeutic activities, while fostering strong community relationships and clear communications with staff.

Requires Grade 12, knowledge of First Nations issues related to child welfare, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 is required.
  • Knowledge of First Nation issues related to the child welfare system, justice and health services.
  • Ability to speak a First Nations language is a strong asset.
  • Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.
  • Must have a valid Class 5F Driver’s License and vehicle; travel upon request.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of First Nations people and Nations.
  • Be able to work flexible hours.
  • Applicants to provide criminal record and child abuse registry checks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with living skills, therapeutic activities and personal care.
  • Empower families to be positive role models for their families.
  • Provide support to families to help build their personal and social support systems.
  • Provide respite to families caregivers the opportunity to attend programming, rest, and recharge.
  • Ability to build and maintain long lasting, respectful relationships with community
  • Support the planning of families;
  • Ensure clear communication with families and staff within the office.
  • Other duties as assigned.
