Job summary

REAL-R in Calgary, AB is seeking an experienced Fire Protection Estimator to turn commercial construction plans into accurate, competitive project estimates for fire alarm and sprinkler systems. You will review drawings, perform quantity take-offs, and prepare detailed bids to help win jobs.

We value a strong technical background in fire protection, the ability to read codes and specs, and clear communication with project managers, suppliers, and customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in fire protection, construction, or estimating.
• Experience with commercial fire alarm or sprinkler systems.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Strong attention to detail and math skills.
• Proficient in Excel and basic estimating practices.
• Flexible, with good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection drawings and specs.
• Complete quantity take-offs for fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial projects.
• Calculate material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Request and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing.
• Review tender documents for scope gaps and risks.
• Prepare competitive bids and tender submissions.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, suppliers, and customers.
