Job summary

Classic Fire + Life Safety in Ottawa is seeking an Estimator with proven experience in fire protection. You will review drawings, prepare quotations, and help develop cost estimates for sprinkler, standpipe, and special fire suppression systems.

The role requires strong math, communication, and teamwork, with a focus on accuracy and adherence to Ontario codes. You will visit sites, coordinate with contractors and owners, and prepare detailed bids to win projects.

Qualifications

• Well versed in sprinkler system design.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field.
• Educational background in Fire Protection or similar field is an asset.
• Knowledge of Ontario codes and NFPA.
• Strong math and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Team oriented with the ability to work autonomously.
• Dedicated work ethic and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of quotations based on reviewing construction drawings and specifications.
• Lay out of fire protection systems, including sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump and special systems in accordance with codes.
• Produce a quantity take off list of material, labour and other construction factors to produce a cost estimate.
• Preparation of a detailed quotation letter to send to customer(s) in a competitive situation.
• Communication with General Contractors, Engineers, Architects and Owners.
• Complete site visits to determine existing conditions.
• Meet with clients and build customer relationships.

Description

The Estimator is a motivated, organized, and personable individual willing to contribute his/her experience and expertise in the area of estimating. The Estimator prepares quotations based on reviewing construction drawings and specifications and provides support and assistance to his coworkers in a team environment.
