Job summary

The City of Regina is seeking a Fire Inspector to enforce fire prevention regulations across city buildings and Provincial statutes. You will conduct inspections, review fire safety plans, and educate stakeholders on safety practices.

Requires Grade 12, a Fire Protection Eng Tech diploma or equivalent, and NFPA/IFSAC certifications. A valid driver's license and travel allowance are provided. Join a team focused on public safety and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma; six years as a Fire Fighter or a Fire Protection Eng Tech diploma with NFPA 1031/1033.
  • IFSAC Fire Inspector NFPA 1031 Level I & II; Public Fire & Life Educator NFPA 1035.
  • IC 100 and communication experience are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates complaints and follows up on inspections to initiate enforcement as required.
  • Inspects buildings to identify fire hazards and ensure compliance with codes and bylaws.
  • Performs fire safety plan reviews and inspections of sprinklers, alarms, and kitchens.
  • Conducts fire/explosion investigations to determine cause and testifies in court as needed.
  • Assists with building plan reviews and final inspections; supports public education efforts.
