Job summary

Ontario Public Service is seeking a senior financial and risk management professional to support its Financial Reporting and Fiscal Support Branch. You will lead risk policy creation, analyze government proposals from a financial standpoint, and provide guidance on budgeting and controls.

This role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership. The position focuses on improving risk management, policy compliance, and effective communication of financial options,

Qualifications

• Accounting and financial management principles, practices, and requirements.
• Revenue/expenditure management principles, internal control/frameworks, reconciliation, variance analysis, and reporting standards.
• Ability to gain knowledge of governing legislation and ministry activities.
• Government business planning and financial reporting policies/directives.
• Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Experience with MS Office and large-scale accounting systems such as Oracle Financials.

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and upkeep of risk management policies and processes.
• Review and analyze government proposals and decisions from a financial perspective.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis and assess risks tied to government programs and budgets.
• Offer expert advice and insights on risk management and business planning.
• Build and carry out communication and engagement plans to gather input and support for financial and risk management initiatives.
