PetroChina Canada is seeking a Financial Representative to join the Finance & Accounting Team in Calgary. You will lead budget planning, forecasting, and financial reporting for LNG and upstream gas assets, acting as a liaison between finance and asset teams.

The role emphasizes JV governance, commercial and contractual matters, and continuous improvement of financial controls and systems. Prior JV and SAP experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience working with Joint Venture projects required.
  • 5-8 years’ relevant financial reporting/budgeting experience in oil and gas.
  • In-depth knowledge of oil and gas operations and reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to deliver timely and insightful reports.

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual work program and budget planning, governance, and approvals.
  • Provide financial guidance on capital projects, AFEs, OPEX, and R&D.
  • Monitor and report on AFE and project spending and variances.
  • Maintain SAP investment structures, load budgets, ensure coding with AFE standards.
  • Lead monthly forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting for assets.
  • Partner with business and finance teams for close activities and KPI reporting.
  • Advise asset teams on governance, JV, and contractual matters.

PetroChina Canada is recruiting for a Financial Representative to join the Finance& Accounting Team.

Reportingto the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis, t he Financial Representative will be focusedon non-operated assets for LNG and / or upstream gas. The role will be a key focal point andliaison between the finance department and the asset team, providing financialinsight and oversight. The Financial Representative will be responsible fordeveloping and supporting financial planning, budgeting, forecasting andmanagement reporting. As well, theincumbent will be heavily engaged with both commercial and contractual issuesrelated to the relevant asset area and contribute to driving financial analysisacross business lines to identify solutions to improve financial and operatingperformance.

This position is a full-time, in office position located in Calgary.

Accountabilities:

The accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Budget& AFE (Approved For Expenditure) Management

Leadannual work program and budget planning, governance, and approval processes,ensuring alignment with JV agreements, business objectives, and strategicpriorities.

Providefinancial and accounting guidance on capital projects, AFEs, operatingexpenses, feasibility studies, R&D initiatives, and abandonment programs.

Monitorand report on AFE and project spending, proactively identifying budgetvariances, cost overruns, and supporting budget change requests andsupplementary AFEs.

MaintainSAP investment management structures, including WBS and cost centerhierarchies, load and release approved capital budgets, and ensure compliancewith AFE standards and expenditure coding requirements.

Other Financial related activities & Analysis

Leadmonthly forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting processes for assignedassets, ensuring timely and accurate financial information for decision-making.

Analyzeoperating costs, business performance, and key financial metrics, providinginsights on variances, risks, opportunities, and strategies to improveoperational and financial results.

Maintainfinancial integrity through accurate accounting, balance sheet governance,financial controls, and compliance with reporting, audit, and governancerequirements.

Partnerwith business and finance teams to support financial planning, monthly closeactivities, KPI reporting, and preparation of presentations for seniorleadership.

Actas a subject matter expert on joint venture agreements and budget managementprocesses, while driving continuous improvement of financial systems, controls,policies, and procedures.

Other

Serve as a trusted advisor to asset teams on financialgovernance, joint venture, and contractual matters, ensuring compliance andeffective commercial decision-making.

Leveragefinancial, contractual, and JV expertise to protect company assets, maximizevalue, and support contract development, negotiations, and agreement management

Qualifications:
MustHaves:

Undergraduatedegree in Finance or related field from a recognized institution

Experienceworking with Joint Venture projects required

5-8years’ relevant financial reporting/budgeting experience within an oil and gasexploration, development and/or operations environment

In-depthknowledge of oil and gas operations as well as relevant management reportingrequirements and proven ability to deliver timely and insightful reports

Trackrecord of operations related opportunity identification, initiative, ownershipand resolution

Assets:

Professionalaccountant designation will be considered an asset

Workingknowledgeof IFRS for oil and gas and/or LNG industry will be considered anasset

Hands-onexperience with SAP will be considered an asset
