Position Description:

The Financial Reporting Analyst works closely with the Accounting and Finance Operations team to prepare consolidated financial statements and external reports.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Prepares monthly consolidation working papers and reports for the Finance Leadership team.
2. Assists with the preparation and review of regulatory filings related to the Corporation’s requirements as a Foreign Private Issuer on the New York Stock Exchange and other public filing requirements related to various listed debt securities. Reviews supporting schedules for note disclosures.
3. Reviews monthly working papers prepared by Finance Operations.
4. Prepares/reviews audit working papers and fields queries from auditors.
5. Reviews journal entries and performs analysis related to major financial statement captions, ensuring accuracy of reporting.
6. Manages and reviews annual and quarterly financial statements for statutory reporting.
7. Assists in resolving complex accounting reconciliations.
8. Supports review, analysis, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
9. Contributes to process redevelopment and internal control enhancements.
10. Assists in preparing annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
11. Supports finance transformation projects to optimize reporting processes using best practices and technology.
12. Provides training to new team members as needed.
13. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Management, or equivalent.
• CPA or recognized professional accounting certification.
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience in audit and/or industry, including financial statement preparation and disclosure.
• Experience with foreign currency and intercompany transactions.
• Strong knowledge of complex account reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
• Understanding and application of internal controls and process improvements.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Strong communication skills for leading and coaching staff.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience with public companies and SEC requirements.
• Experience with multiple office organization.
• Familiarity with financial systems software (e.g., NetSuite).

Job Demands:

• Periodic overtime to meet deadlines or accommodate time zone differences.

Compensation and Benefits:

Seaspan's total compensation is based on a pay-for-performance philosophy. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000 CAD per year, commensurate with experience and skills.
