Job description

Requisition ID: 210880

Join a purpose-driven, high-performing team committed to results within an inclusive culture.

To align with our purpose, we have renamed our role to Financial Planners under Scotia Financial Planning (formerly 'Investment Specialist' in the Mobile Advice Team). Join a team that values results and inclusivity!

As a Financial Planner, you will develop and deepen client relationships by providing high-quality advice and services within the mass affluent market. You understand that growing a practice involves building long-term relationships, leveraging external networks, and welcoming the freedom to grow your practice independently. Your clients are your greatest asset, and your priority is to help them meet their unique financial goals through investment and financial planning advice.

You excel at building new relationships and enjoy flexible meeting options outside of the office, on schedules that suit you and your clients. You also value working within a collective Scotiabank framework that benefits your clients and your practice.

Following a comprehensive financial planning framework, you will be responsible for driving investment sales and acquiring new clients, while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance, and regulatory requirements. You will also establish business development opportunities within your market area.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Business Development: Execute plans to prospect and serve existing clients in the mass affluent market, identify new investment opportunities, and facilitate solutions or referrals.
  2. Client-Centric Solutions: Provide tailored investment solutions, conduct proactive outreach, and perform needs analyses across financial statements, including competitor statements.
  3. Community Engagement: Participate in local events and associations, deliver community seminars, build your market profile, and network with industry specialists, managing a small marketing budget.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years in financial planning and investment sales.
  • Mutual Funds Certified Professional with current MFDA licensing (Investments Funds in Canada or Canadian Securities Course).
  • Completed or working towards a PFP or CFP designation.
  • Strong networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills; experience with Centres of Influence.
  • Goal-oriented, entrepreneurial, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of market offerings, trends, economic conditions, and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client meetings.
What We Offer:
  • Entrepreneurial culture with career development opportunities.
  • Flexible, fast-paced work environment with self-set hours.
  • Compensation based on base plus variable pay, rewarding client growth and retention.
  • Advanced resources including marketing support, mobile technology, CRM, and financial planning software.
  • Opportunity to build lasting client relationships through excellent service.
  • Remote client engagement capabilities.
  • Collaborative partnership with branches and Scotia Global Asset Management.
  • Inclusive, respectful work culture promoting diversity.
Additional Information:
  • This role features a base salary plus variable pay and involves frequent travel as it is a mobile position.
