Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Financial Operations Analyst for a 6-month contract in Markham, with 1–2 days in the office. You will support commission processing across multiple entities, validate data inputs, and perform reconciliations and tax-related tasks.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting and wealth management experience, strong Excel skills (pivots, macros a plus), and the ability to communicate with executives. CPA is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support full-cycle commission processing across multiple entities, including calculation and disbursement.
• Validate source data inputs for commission runs ensuring data integrity.
• Analyze and resolve commission variances; reconcile items with Operations and Accounting.
• Perform account reconciliations for commissions, trust, and A/P.
• Respond to advisor queries on compensation and payment discrepancies.
• Investigate payment exceptions and communicate impacts to earnings.
• Administer sales tax processes including GST/HST registrations.
• Support advisor tax profiles in internal systems for accurate tax treatment.
• Calculate and reconcile sales tax on advisor payouts; assist remittance prep.
• Execute internal controls and escalate breakdowns or inefficiencies.
• Contribute to periodic reporting and audits; support management decisions.
• Develop operational reporting and provide ad hoc analytics.

Our client is sourcing a Financial Operations Analyst for a 6-month contract.

Location: 1-2 days in office located in Markham

About the Opportunity

• Support full-cycle commission processing workflow across multiple legal entities, including calculation, review, and disbursement of advisor compensation
• Validate source data inputs for commission runs, ensuring data integrity, completeness, and alignment with payment schedules
• Analyze and resolve commission variances, reconciling outstanding items and coordinating adjustments with Operations and Accounting
• Perform account reconciliations (commissions, trust, and A/P), ensuring timely clearing of balances and proper financial statement alignment
• Respond to advisor queries on compensation, payment discrepancies, and transaction adjustments with clear, professional communication
• Investigate payment exceptions (e.g., rejected deposits, corrections) and communicate downstream impacts to commission earnings
• Administer sales tax processes, including verification of GST/HST registrations and maintaining compliance with tax requirements
• Support setup and maintenance of advisor tax profiles within internal systems for accurate tax treatment on commissions
• Calculate and reconcile sales tax on advisor payouts, assisting with remittance preparation and audit-ready documentation
• Execute and monitor internal controls over financial operations, identifying breakdowns, inefficiencies, or control gaps for escalation
• Contribute to periodic reporting and regulatory outputs (e.g., T4A filings), and provide supporting documentation during audits
• Develop and maintain operational reporting (commission analytics, AUA trends), while delivering ad hoc analysis to support management decision-making

About You

• 5+ years of day to day accounting, end-to-end processing of commissions, resolving discrepancies, advisor inquiries
• Experience in wealth management industry is a must
• Strong excel ability - pivots, data management, exposure to macros is an asset
• CPA is an asset but not required
• Experience with AP is an asset but not required
• French language speaking is an asset but not required
• Strong system experience is an asset
• Polished and well communicative enough to make executive presentations
• Self-starter, tenacious, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
