Job summary

Family Services of Greater Vancouver seeks a Financial Empowerment Facilitator and Coach to deliver money skills training for adults, youth and families across the Lower Mainland, and to provide individualized coaching using the Money Skills curriculum. The role supports participants in managing daily finances and planning for the future.

Working within a trauma-informed, client-centered framework, you will collaborate with partners, promote inclusivity, and contribute to ongoing learning,

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in social sciences and/or experience in personal finances, support to others in navigating government systems, adult education, or group facilitation
• Previous experience with community development projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Certification as a CFP, PFP or Money Coach would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates money skills training for adults, youth, and families across the Lower Mainland
• Provides one-to-one coaching to participants
• Implements the Money Skills curriculum to help participants manage finances and plan for the future
• Builds relationships with community partners to improve access to training and resources
• Supports diversity and inclusion goals within the agency

About Our Opportunity

Working within the mission, vision, values, and person-centred philosophy of the Agency, the Financial Empowerment Facilitator and Coach facilitates money skills training for adults, youth, and families across the Lower Mainland and provides one-to-one coaching. Implements the Money Skills curriculum to enable participants to effectively manage their everyday finances as well as plan for the future. Builds relationships with community partners to foster and facilitate access to training. It actively supports the Agency’s awareness and goals around diversity and inclusion.

Work Hours: Variable hours with a minimum of 2 to 12.5 hours per week

Location:Various locations, hybrid (in-office, with the community, and home; this includes in-person and virtual)

What do you need to succeed?

Education, Training, Experience

• Undergraduate degree in social sciences and/or experience in personal finances, support to others in navigating government systems, adult education, or group facilitation
• Previous experience working with community development projects, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Certification as a CFP, PFP or Money Coach would be an asset.

Role Qualifications and Skills include, but are not limited to

• Fluent in another language
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide financial empowerment education and support that promotes financial stability, informed decision-making, and increased self-sufficiency.
• Knowledge of the systemic issues that affect low-income and marginalized people, and newcomers' challenges and barriers they face
• Thorough knowledge of community resources and related government and non-government programs
• Knowledge of trauma-informed support that promotes physical and emotional safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.
• Ability to work with a diverse population
• Advanced knowledge of matters related to personal finances
• Strong research and analytic skills
• Strong computer competency with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, MS Teams, and Outlook)
• Comfortable speaking in front of a large group or online, including facilitating discussion

Additional Requirements

• Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
• Willingness to work on-site, in person
• Access to reliable transportation and a willingness to travel within the Lower Mainland
