Job summary

Workland on the South-Shore of Montreal seeks a Financial Controller — Architect of Growth to scale the finance function and guide strategic decisions. You will work directly with senior management on acquisitions and innovation initiatives, building the financial backbone for growth.

You will oversee accounting operations, monthly closings, and governance, ensuring ASPE compliance and clear reporting. French proficiency and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Accounting degree and CPA designation.
• 5+ years of accounting experience (public practice an asset).
• Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE).
• Leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced French; functional English; bilingualism an asset.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to acquisition and innovation projects.
• Translate forecasts and analyses into strategic recommendations for leadership.
• Coordinate with external experts on strategic initiatives (tax, IT, innovation).
• Oversee AR/AP, GL, payroll; deliver timely financial statements.
• Establish internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify efficiency gains in inventory, automation, and workflows.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Strategy and growth

• Take part in the company's acquisition and innovation projects.
• Turn forecasts and financial analysis into concrete recommendations for leadership.
• Work with outside experts (tax, IT, innovation) on strategic projects.

Financial and accounting management

• Oversee the full accounting function — accounts receivable and payable, general ledger, payroll.
• Deliver reliable, on-time financial statements in accordance with ASPE standards.
• Lead monthly and annual closings.

Governance and continuous improvement

• Put in place the internal controls and policies that protect the company.
• Ensure compliance with federal and provincial financial requirements.
• Spot efficiency gains — inventory, automation, workflow.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Accounting degree + CPA designation.
• 5+ years in accounting (public practice experience an asset).
• Strong grasp of Canadian accounting standards.
• Leadership, communication, and problem-solving instincts.
• Advanced French; functional English (bilingualism an asset).
