Job Overview

The Financial Controller is responsible for managing financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. They provide accounting leadership and develop financial processes that support the company's long-term success. Reporting to the CFO, key responsibilities include ensuring accurate and timely financial statements, improving processes, and collaborating with operational and commercial teams on strategic projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements according to IFRS standards.
2. Coordinate with external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
3. Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and all accounting functions.
4. Implement internal controls to protect assets and ensure accuracy.
5. Provide financial analysis and reports to stakeholders.
6. Manage corporate and retail tax filings.
7. Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships.
8. Lead automation initiatives for reconciliations and reporting.
9. Guide accounting staff on best practices and technology adoption.
10. Establish KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and promote continuous improvement.
11. Mentor and develop the finance team.
12. Monitor budgets, cash flow, and forecasts to aid financial planning.
13. Stay informed on financial regulations and standards updates.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA required.
2. At least 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with 3-5 years in senior management.
3. Deep understanding of IFRS, GAAP, and SEC reporting.
4. Experience in publicly traded companies preferred.
5. Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems.
6. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
7. Strategic thinker with business partnering skills.

10. Experience in healthcare or long-term care industry is a plus.
