We are looking for a dynamic, articulate, and experienced Financial Controller. The Controller will undertake all aspects of full cycle accounting, financial management, including financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Responsibilities will also include financial risk management.

Requirements:

  • QuickBooks Online experience is essential
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Solid financial and managerial accounting skills (Canadian GAAP, full cycle accounting, payroll, internal controls, month-end and year-end closing procedures)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for strategic reporting, forecasting, and analysis, including revenue, expenses, net income, cash flow, and balance sheet management for executive and board reporting
  • Manage full cycle accounting tasks such as A/R, A/P, revenue recognition, and month-end closing
  • Establish and oversee accounting processes foundational to financial management
  • Coordinate and prepare budgets and financial forecasts, reporting variances
  • Publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting
  • Manage compliance with provincial, state, and federal reporting and tax obligations
  • Develop and document internal controls and accounting policies
  • Recommend procedural and system improvements for efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain timely reporting of HST/GST and sales tax by jurisdiction
  • Support team growth and development
  • Perform additional controller duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller
  • 10+ years in accounting and finance within small to medium-sized businesses
  • Ability to manage multiple entities simultaneously
  • Advanced degree in Accounting
  • CPA or equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience preparing financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and closing processes
  • Proficiency with accounting software and systems
