As we grow, we’re looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations and ensure the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Operations Management
  • Oversee day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Manage and execute internal and external consultant payroll processes.
  • Process and review travel expense claims to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Track and verify staff commissions using Microsoft Excel.
Reconciliation and Reporting
  • Reconcile financial statements such as bank statements, credit card statements, HST, QST, corporate tax returns, EHT, WSIB, and T4 summaries, including corresponding remittances.
  • Compile and distribute monthly sales reports.
  • Perform month-end and year-end procedures, including the preparation and presentation of financial statements.
Inventory and Sales Tracking
  • Track sales orders and monitor inventory levels to ensure efficient operations.
  • Compile and distribute monthly sales performance data.
Collaboration and Oversight
  • Collaborate with contract and administrative employees, providing guidance and oversight to ensure smooth operations.
  • Interface with all levels of management regarding financial statements and sales information.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in financial management roles, preferably within consulting or professional services industries.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Skills and Competencies
  • Experience with the Federal Government of Canada: Strong familiarity with Canadian federal processes and regulations is a must.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in managing and reconciling financial records.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with all levels of management.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and address financial discrepancies effectively.
  • Team Leadership: Proven ability to oversee and collaborate with finance and administrative teams.
  • Experience with P2P Portal: Familiarity with the procurement-to-payment (P2P) portal used by Shared Services Canada is an asset.
  • Experience with Sage payment software is an asset.
