Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a senior financial accountant to oversee month-end deliverables, intercompany reconciliations, and acquisition accounting across the portfolio. This role offers a 100% remote setup with exposure to NetSuite and Blackline implementations, and opportunities to advance into leadership as the portfolio grows across time zones.

• Qualified accountant with at least 5 years' experience, potentially from a large audit firm with industry exposure.
• Strong technical accounting skills, including acquisition accounting for multiple yearly acquisitions.
• Experience in risk management, system improvements and post-acquisition finance integration.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and pay attention to detail.
• Portuguese or Spanish skills are advantageous.
• Willingness to adapt in a fast-changing environment and support portfolio businesses.

Responsibilities

• Oversee review and compilation of month-end deliverables prepared by portfolio businesses.
• Assist in integration of acquired companies’ financial reporting and processes, including systems implementation and opening balance sheet audits.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations for portfolio and integrated entities as required.
• Manage intercompany relationships between portfolio and affiliated entities, including documentation and reconciliations.
• Collaborate with finance teams and group leads on long-term projects to improve efficiencies and reporting.
• Serve as escalation point for IFRS accounting queries arising from businesses and groups.
• Monitor timely completion of local external audits.
• Track debt covenant compliance and propose actions as needed.
• Assist in systems implementations and best-practice sharing for NetSuite and modules.
• Ensure local control processes and reconciliations comply via Blackline and peer review.

About the Opportunity

• Oversee review and compilation of various month end deliverables prepared by the portfolio businesses
• Assist in the integration of acquired companies’ financial reporting and processes, including system implementation, business combination accounting and opening balance sheet audits
• Review of journal entries and account reconciliations for the Portfolio and some businesses being integrated, as required
• Managing all intercompany relationships between the Portfolio and other affiliated entities, including overseeing documentation, entries and reconciliations
• Working with Finance teams of the businesses and group finance leads on longer-term projects to drive efficiencies or more accurate management reporting
• Act as an escalation point for technical IFRS accounting queries arising from businesses and groups
• Monitor timely completion of local external audits as required
• Track Debt covenant compliance and propose actions where appropriate
• Assist in systems implementations and best practice sharing where appropriate for NetSuite and supporting modules.
• Ensure compliance at a local level of control processes, reconciliations and financial reporting through Blackline and our global peer review process.

About You

• A qualified accountant, with at least 5 years’ experience, potentially having worked in a large audit firm plus industry experience.
• Excellent technical accounting skills, including acquisition accounting (we complete multiple acquisitions each year)
• Preferably brings experience in risk management, systems improvement and managing finance change — for example system implementations, process redesign and post-acquisition integration
• Comfortable working to tight deadlines and willing to get into the detail
• Portuguese or Spanish skills an advantage
• Enjoy a fast-changing environment, which provides great opportunities for future growth
• Willing to go out of your way to help the Portfolio businesses
• Flexible and adaptable with ability to work flexible hours across time zones where necessary

Salary Range

$145,000 - $160,000 / year
