About the job

DART is seeking a Financial Analyst to perform cost accounting tasks. The role involves ensuring standard cost accuracy, managing variable & fixed overhead costs, handling monthly closing activities, and reporting actual results with variance analysis. The position also supports FP&A activities related to gross margin, assists engineering development programs, and collaborates with business unit managers and strategic projects.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform cost analysis for inventories and oversee inventory cycle counts.
  2. Identify cost-saving opportunities.
  3. Conduct month-end closing for inventory and ensure accurate inventory valuation.
  4. Manage all balance sheet and P&L GLs related to inventory and cost of sales.
  5. Analyze variances and collaborate with site managers to reduce them.
  6. Perform weekly purchase price variance analyses and update systems with new standard prices.
  7. Analyze costs affecting gross margin including freight, labor, overhead, raw materials, and customer returns.
  8. Support invoice posting related to gross margin GLs.
  9. Track engineering and production costs for special projects.
  10. Handle Standard Costing, including yearly calculation of work center and overhead rates.
  11. Participate in forecasting and budgeting processes related to gross margin.
  12. Improve costing processes, ensure compliance, and support audits and process improvements.
  13. Assist site managers in interpreting monthly results and understanding business impacts on margins.
  14. Support budgeting and monitoring of capital expenditures and productivity projects.
  15. Contribute to business case development, contract evaluation, and project assessments.
Qualifications & Skills
  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Cost accounting experience is an asset.
  • Excellent analytical, financial reporting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Result-oriented with initiative and business acumen.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working with ERP systems.
  • Bilingual (oral and written).
  • Open to some travel to different sites.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
