Job summary

Altis Technology is seeking an experienced Finance Manager in Toronto, hybrid work arrangement. The role leads accounting operations, oversees AP, financial reporting, and month-end close, while guiding a finance team and driving process improvements.

You will collaborate with the Controller and cross-functional partners to enhance efficiency, ensure compliance, and support strategic finance initiatives in a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably in education/non-profit.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and reporting knowledge.
  • Experience supervising finance staff with leadership and collaboration.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience (Dynamics 365 BC or similar).
  • Solid understanding of sales tax, regulatory requirements, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounts payable function: invoices, journal entries, reconciliations and transactions for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to AP staff, monitor service quality and workflow efficiency.
  • Lead month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, audit prep, working papers, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to implement process improvements and finance projects.
  • Manage banking activity approvals, cash postings, and account reconciliations while maintaining controls.
  • Support Controller with budgeting, audits, and regulatory requirements, including sales tax reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes and drive continuous improvement.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll support the Controller with budgeting activities, audit coordination, and regulatory compliance requirements, including sales tax and reporting obligations.
  • You’ll help strengthen financial processes by identifying opportunities for efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the finance function.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, preferably within a non‑profit, charitable, or educational environment.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring finance staff, with demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong experience working with Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of sales tax regulations, accounting procedures, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines effectively.
