Our client, a well established organization focusing on development services, mental addiction, and homelessness, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance Manager to join their team. Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a finance team of 6 members (2 finance coordinators, 4 finance assistants), including managing conflict and differing priorities.
- Oversee fund management, fund accounting, and fund reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the board.
- Analyze and report budget vs. actuals to program directors.
- Work with auditors and ensure compliance with extensive reporting requirements for various funding agencies (Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, Heart Hub, Niagara Region, Ministry of Child and Community Services, United Way, and Bingo).
- Demonstrate hands‑on capabilities, being prepared to jump in for tasks such as payroll or month‑end close if needed.
- Ensure strong performance in analytical skills and proficiency with Sage 300 accounting software.
- Meet deadlines and milestones for financial reporting, even under stress.
- Act as a business partner, maintaining fiduciary responsibility and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Strong expertise in fund management, fund accounting, and fund reporting.
- Proficiency with Sage 300 accounting software.
- Demonstrated ability to manage people, resolve conflicts, and support team members.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn the nuances of the not-for-profit sector.
- Integrity, respect, and ability to perform under stress.
- Not-for-profit experience is preferred; public accounting background is acceptable if there is a willingness to be a hands‑on "doer."\
- Strong analytical skills.
