As the Finance Manager at Rival Insurance Technology, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our financial strategy and ensuring the efficient management of our financial operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee critical financial processes, provide insights that drive informed decision-making, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Your role is central to the organization’s success, as you will manage everything from budgets to payroll and tax filings, ensuring financial efficiency and accuracy at every step.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Reporting

1. Develop and manage annual budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial targets.
2. Monitor financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings and growth.
3. Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including cash flow, balance sheets, and profit and loss (P&L) reports.

Accounting Operations

1. Oversee accounting functions, including accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
2. Manage invoice payments, billing processes, and commission calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.

Tax Compliance & Audit

1. Support SR&ED claims preparation, including managing audits.
2. Oversee tax return preparation and compliance, including all provincial payroll taxes.
3. Ensure the organization meets regulatory requirements, including SOC2 standards.

Financial Planning & Analysis

1. Provide financial analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
2. Monitor liquidity, bank accounts, and investments, ensuring optimal financial management.
3. Offer actionable recommendations based on analysis to drive operational efficiency and profitability.

Team Leadership

1. Supervise and mentor the Finance Operations Specialist, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to policies and processes.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support organizational goals.
3. Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing updates on financial health and recommending strategies for improvement.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in financial management or a similar role.
3. Advanced proficiency with financial tools (e.g., QuickBooks, MS Excel) and accounting principles.
4. Strong understanding of P&L management, tax compliance, and financial reporting.
5. Solutions-focused with a passion for analyzing complex financial data and driving operational improvements.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present insights to non-financial stakeholders.
7. A passion for continuous learning and staying current with industry trends, tax regulations, and best practices.
