Job summary

EXP is seeking a Field Technician in Kingston, ON to support geotechnical projects with on-site concrete tests, soil sampling and lab work. The role requires good client interaction and strong math skills, with preference for CCIL/ACI certification and a Civil Technology diploma.

You will join a team of engineers and technicians, performing on-site testing and reporting, while commuting locally and contributing to project success.

Qualifications

• Must have strong people skills, and ability to work with wide variety of staff and clients.
• Must be able to communicate (verbal/written) in English for field and formal reports.
• 2-5 years of experience in concrete/soils/asphalt testing would be advantageous.
• Strong general math skills.
• Diploma from an accredited Civil Technology program or equivalent would be an asset.
• Must have a valid Canadian driver’s license.
• CCIL or ACI Certification would be preferred.

Responsibilities

• Executing on site concrete tests which includes casting cylinders, slump test, and air content tests.
• Perform soil compaction tests on various construction sites.
• Executing soil sampling and asphalt hot-mix sampling on site.
• Some in-lab work, such as testing cylinders, gradation analysis, proctors, etc.
• Interacting with on-site clients to provide excellent service and a quick response to testing needs.

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Geotechnical team, based in Kingston, ON office and have the opportunity to work on the various projects.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Executing on site concrete tests which includes casting cylinders, slump test, and air content tests
• Perform soil compaction tests on various construction sites
• Executing soil sampling and asphalt hot-mix sampling on site
• Some in-lab work, such as testing cylinders, gradation analysis, proctors, etc
• The technicians will interact with the on-site clients (contractors) to provide excellent service and a quick response to their testing needs

What Your Experience Looks Like

• Must have strong people skills, and ability to work with wide variety of staff and clients

• 2-5 years of experience in concrete/soils/asphalt testing experience would be advantageous
• Strong general math skills

The hourly range for this role is between $50k - $65k. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
