Job summary

Raise is seeking a Field Superintendent in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to support a client in exploration, mine engineering and environmental protection. This 4-month contract involves field supervision, workface planning, and oversight of mechanical, piping and HVAC work.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in senior mechanical/HVAC roles, strong workface planning/LEMs, and contractor QA/QC experience; dual journeyperson trades and supervisory training are highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Review and develop detailed work plans per workface planning processes
  • Direct supervision of field crews on mechanical, piping, and HVAC scopes
  • Oversee contractor activities to meet contract specs
  • Inspect installations and manage deficiencies through closeout
  • Track daily site progress and productivity, resolve field barriers
  • Validate contractor-submitted daily LEM reports
  • Coordinate day-to-day site interface between contractors and operations

Job description

Field Superintendent
  • Contract Length: 4 Months
  • Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Raise is currently hiring a Field Superintendent on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client is a Canadian global leader in exploration, mine engineering, and environmental protection.

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.

Accountabilities
  • Workface Planning & Strategy: Review and develop detailed, actionable work plans in accordance with established workface planning processes.
  • Field Supervision & Direct Labor: Perform direct supervision of field crews on mechanical and piping scopes when required, upholding strict safety and quality benchmarks.
  • Contractor & Activity Oversight: Supervise contractor activities across mechanical, piping, and commercial HVAC work packages to guarantee full compliance with contract specifications.
  • Quality Assurance & Deficiencies: Inspect completed installations, verify work quality against engineering and industry standards, identify deficiencies, and manage resolution through to closeout.
  • Schedule & Productivity Monitoring: Track daily site progress and work productivity. Collaboratively resolve field barriers alongside contractors and operations personnel.
  • Daily Reporting & Verification: Validate and approve contractor-submitted daily labor, equipment, and material (LEM) reports.
  • Site Coordination: Act as the primary liaison coordinating day‑to‑day site interface activities between external contractors and operations team members.
Required
  • Senior Mechanical & HVAC Experience (10+ Years): Proven track record managing multi‑discipline mechanical projects, heavy industrial or commercial piping, and commercial HVAC installations. Strong preference is given to candidates with a background in commercial construction.
  • Workface Planning & LEM Validation Expertise: Hands‑on experience developing advanced work packages (AWP) / workface plans, paired with strong commercial acumen in auditing and approving contractor LEMS (Labor, Equipment, Materials).
  • Contractor Management & Quality Inspection: Deep familiarity with contractor oversight, quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC) inspection protocols, deficiency management, and cross‑functional team coordination.
  • Education or Certifications
  • Dual Technical Journeyperson Certifications: Interprovincial Red Seal or recognized Journeyperson status in both Mechanical (e.g., Millwright, Pipefitter, Heavy Duty) and Electrical / Instrumentation (E/I) trades.
  • Formal Supervisory Training & Field Leadership: Demonstrated completion of supervisory leadership training (e.g., Leadership for Safety Excellence, Frontline Supervisor Certification) with a track record of driving field productivity and safety culture.
  • Safety Leadership & Designations (Preferred): Active Construction Safety Officer (CSO) designation or equivalent safety accreditation is considered a strong asset.
Additional Information
  • Preference given to someone with commercial construction experience. Monday - Friday in the corporate office. Not fly in‑fly out.
  • As this is a safety Sensitive Role Pre‑access substance testing will be required.
