Role Description

Current Instrumentation & Automation Inc. is seeking a Field Service Instrumentation Technician for a full-time position. The Field Service Technician will perform commissioning, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations to industrial instrumentation and automation systems and equipment. The tech is also expected to design and build small electrical panels, IoT solutions, and perform other electrical and automation tasks. The Technician will work with the service team, business development, and inside teams to identify and provide solutions for clients in various industries, including steel, oil and gas, chemicals, water, wastewater, plastics, building materials, and manufacturing. As a customer‑centric organization, the role may require overtime, weekends, and holidays to respond to emergencies and project demands.

Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of field experience in the instrumentation, electrical or automation field in Canada.
  • A good understanding of industrial instrumentation and equipment, including temperature, pressure, level, flow, gas analyzers, and fixed toxic and flammable gas detection.
  • Familiarity with automation & electrical systems and equipment & ability to build small electrical panels, wiring and IoT work.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
  • Comfortable handling multiple projects and customers at the same time.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must have a customer‑centric mindset & ability to manage customer expectations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time, and collaborate effectively.
  • An electrical license is an asset.
  • Comfortable with lifting weights, working from heights and confined spaces.
  • Ability to travel to the USA for training and customer support.

Note: Comfortable with travelling across Canada and occasionally outside Canada.
