Job summary

Sandvik Mining seeks a Field Service Heavy Duty Mechanic (Surface drills) in British Columbia. This role involves troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical aspects of surface mining equipment, plus new equipment commissioning at customer sites.

You will inspect equipment, replace parts, test performance, and participate in continuous improvement. Overtime may be incurred; FIFO/DIDO schedule applies and travel across Canada is required.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade certification (red seal is considered an asset).
• At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Previous experience with equipment would be an asset.
• Common Core training is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required.
• Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical aspects of surface mining equipment.
• Assist with new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites.
• Inspect equipment for faults and malfunctions.
• Adjust/repair defective parts per scope of work.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Commission new equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports.
• Stay current with industry and product developments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
