Job summary

A governmental body in Saskatchewan is seeking a Forest Ecosystem Technician to support the Ministry of Environment. Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Candidate should be eligible for membership within the Association of Saskatchewan Forestry Professionals within 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Work with forest inventory staff responsible for provincial forest inventory and growth programs.
  • Implement and audit various field survey projects.
  • Collect field data.
  • Oversee logistics planning for the field programs.
  • Help supervise and train temporary field staff.

Skills

Knowledge of common field sampling procedures used in the science of forestry
Experience working in the field collecting a variety of data
Knowledge of principles related to ecosystem-based forest management
Committed to personal and organizational safety

Education

Completion of a forestry technician program
Forestry degree program or allied science degree program combined with relevant field experience
Formal education in the use of Geographic Information Systems
