Job summary

Forsite Consultants Ltd. is seeking Forest Technicians to support forest development activities from our 100 Mile House, BC base. The role involves reconnaissance road/cut block engineering, ecological and riparian assessments, and preparing associated plans and appraisal packages in a safe, timely and cost-efficient manner.

The position is field-based with potential for out-of-town and camp work. Ideal candidates hold a diploma/degree in forestry or have 3+ years of related field experience,

Qualifications

• Safety conscious attitude.
• Diploma or degree in forestry or related field or 3 years of field experience.
• Broad understanding of general forestry practices.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about forestry and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Able to work independently or in a team with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform forest development activities including reconnaissance road/cut block engineering, ecological and riparian assessments, and related plans and appraisals.
• Produce deliverables and appraisal packages in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner.
• This is a field-based role with potential for out-of-town and camp work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Forest Technician is responsible for forest development activities including reconnaissance road/cut block engineering, ecological and riparian assessments, and completing the associated plans, deliverables, and appraisal packages in a safe, timely, cost effective and professional manner.

This is a field-based position that has the potential for out of town and camp work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

• A safety conscious attitude;
• Post-secondary education with a diploma or degree in a relevant discipline, or 3 years of related field experience;
• Broad understanding of general forestry practices; and
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about forestry and working outdoors in all weather conditions;
• Able to work both independently under limited direct supervision as well as in a dynamic team environment.
