Job summary

Brandt is seeking a Field Foreman in Ottawa to coordinate and direct the workload of the Service Department for maximum efficiency and productivity. This role will guide technicians, review repair orders, and support training while ensuring quality repair work.

The position emphasizes leadership, safety, and scheduling, with a focus on optimizing technician skills and ensuring timely service delivery across our Ottawa Construction & Forestry location.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard desktop software.
  • Ability to lead and guide a team of technicians.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician preferred.
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products.
  • Forklift license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assigning jobs and work areas to Service Department staff.
  • Assist in appraisal of repair orders and participate in repairs as needed.
  • Direct and assist in diagnosing machine problems for technicians and apprentices.
  • Inspect and repair tools; recommend new tooling as required.
  • Advise Service Manager on customer complaints.
  • Establish and maintain on-call field schedule.
  • Coordinate and schedule in-house technician training.
  • Coordinate quarterly safety meetings with the Service Manager.
  • Assist in re-conditioning of used equipment and setup of new equipment.
  • May approve release of equipment for delivery to customers.
  • Open/close work orders and prepare warranty paperwork.
  • Provide performance feedback for service staff.

Description

Brandt is currently seeking a Field Foreman for our Ottawa Construction & Forestry location.


This position is responsible for assisting with coordinating and directing the workload of the Service Department for maximum efficiency and productivity while providing quality repair work; advise and make recommendations to the Service Manager regarding technician skills and training needs.

What You Will Be Responsible For


  • Assists with the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skills and knowledge

  • Assists in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and may participate in repairs; may review repair orders for accuracy and completeness

  • Directs and assists in the diagnosis of machine problems of technicians and apprentices

  • Inspects and repairs all special tools; recommends new tooling as required

  • Advises Service Manager of all customer complaints

  • Establish and maintain on-call field schedule

  • Coordinates and schedules in-house technician training

  • Assists the Service Manager with coordinating and conducting quarterly safety meetings

  • May arrange for and participate in re-conditioning of used equipment and set-up of new equipment

  • May approve the release of equipment for delivery to the customer

  • Opening and closing work orders, preparing work orders for warranty

  • May assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service

  • Other duties as assigned
