Job summary

Sollio Agriculture in New Minas, NS is seeking an experienced operations leader to manage the New Minas Feed Mill complex. You will oversee production, inventory, fleet deliveries and safety programs while coordinating with sales, technical support and procurement teams to ensure cost-effective operations.

You will drive continuous improvement, maintain strong labour relations under the collective agreement, and lead by example in a noisy, dusty environment with varying weather.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years experience in a related field.
• Excellent leadership and multi-tasking abilities.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Great attention to detail.
• Must work in noisy/dusty environments and various weather conditions.
• High degree of safety awareness and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Achieves budgeted operational costs for the New Minas Feed Mill operations.
• Maintains inventory levels at optimum levels to minimize cost while meeting production needs.
• Oversees production, sale and delivery of feeds and ingredients with sales, technical support, and procurement.
• Motivates and educates employees in personal safety and security of property.
• Develops employees through individual and group training and consultations.
• Maintains harmonious relations with employees under the collective agreement.
• Improves office, plant and delivery operations by analyzing processes and reducing costs.
• Manages a fleet of delivery trucks and drivers for bulk feed delivery to customers.
• Coordinates production volumes with other Sollio sites for efficiency.
• Purchases maintenance parts, new equipment, supplies and services for plant, warehouse and office.
• Participates in labour negotiations between management and the bargaining unit.
