Job summary

Sollio Agriculture in New Minas, NS is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the New Minas Feed Mill team. This permanent, full-time role reports to plant leadership and oversees production, inventory, safety, and delivery operations.

You will optimize costs, coordinate with other Sollio sites, manage a fleet, and guide staff through training while ensuring high-quality feeds and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years experience in a related field.
• Proven leadership with multi-tasking ability.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Detail-oriented with high safety awareness.
• Able to work in a noisy/dusty environment and varying weather.
• Physically fit and with a strong work ethic.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Achieve budgeted operational costs for the New Minas Feed Mill operations.
• Maintain inventory levels to minimize costs while meeting production needs.
• Oversee production, sale and delivery of feeds and ingredients with cross-functional teams.
• Promote safety and security of property among employees.
• Develop and train staff to build an effective, efficient workforce.
• Foster harmonious relations under the collective agreement.
• Improve operations by analyzing processes and reducing costs.
• Manage fleet of delivery trucks and drivers delivering bulk feed.
• Coordinate production volumes with other Sollio sites for efficiency.
• Procure maintenance parts, equipment, supplies and services for plant/warehouse/office.
• Participate in labour negotiations between management and the bargaining unit.

• Achieves budgeted operational costs, for the New Minas Feed Mill operations
• Ensures that inventory levels are kept at optimum levels to minimize cost but maintain production requirements
• Ensures the production, sale and delivery of quality feeds and ingredients by developing employee understanding and commitment, as well as a good rapport with sales, technical support, and procurement staff
• Motivates and educates employees in personal safety and security of property
• Motivates and develops employees to become an effective and efficient work force by individual and group consultation and training program
• Nurtures harmonious relations with employees by fair and equitable administration of a collective agreement
• Improves office, plant and delivery operations by analyzing operations, developing and implementing plans to reduce costs and/or improve quality and service
• Manage a fleet of delivery trucks & drivers responsible for delivering bulk feed from the site to our customers
• Looks of opportunities to co-ordinate production volumes with other Sollio sites to maximize plant efficiency
• Purchases maintenance parts, new equipment, supplies and services for plant, warehouse and office
• Participates in labour negotiations between management and the bargaining unit
