Job summary

The Government of the Northwest Territories, in partnership with the Tlicho Community Services Agency, is seeking a Family Preservation Worker for a 1-year term. The role provides home-based support to families involved with Child and Family Services to strengthen parenting skills and promote healthy family functioning.

You will work with families in their homes and communities in the Tlicho region, collaborating with CFS staff and partners.

Qualifications

• Requires a Diploma in Social Work, Child Development, Youth Care or Early Childhood Education and one year of related experience.
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support, education and coaching to parents and families.
• Promote positive parenting, child development and healthy family relationships.
• Support culturally appropriate parenting practices.
• Provide advocacy and connect families with community resources.
• Deliver family-focused workshops and support activities.
• Promote family preservation and reunification.
• Participate in collaborative service planning and community-based initiatives.
• Apply legislation, standards of practice and sound judgment when responding to complex family situations.
