Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a full-time Facility Operator to support operations in Hamilton, ON. The role reports to the Operations Supervisor and involves daily production reports, paperwork, and bulk/ consolidate household hazardous waste manually or by machine.

Responsibilities include lifting heavy containers, working independently or with a team, and adhering to safety protocols in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Forklift license is an asset.
  • Experience handling chemicals is an asset.
  • Must be able to read container labels and determine hazard characteristics.
  • Must be able to write clearly and legibly.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the site (bus route available).

  • Bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste manually or by machine.
  • Perform physical labour lifting containers up to 20L.
  • Complete production reports and paperwork.
  • Participate in company training.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet daily goals.
  • Maintain safe working practices in all conditions.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

GFL Environmental is looking for a full time Facility Operator, to help support our operations in Hamilton, ON. The Facility Operator will be responsible to report to the Operations Supervisor. Also be responsible for performing daily operations such as complete production reports and paperwork, and bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine
  • Perform physical labour by lifting containers up to 20L in size
  • Complete production reports and paperwork
  • Participate in company supplied training
  • Work independently or as part of a team to achieve daily production goals
  • Work safely at all times
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Other duties as assigned
  • High School Diploma
  • Forklift License is an asset
  • Previous experience handling chemicals is an asset
  • Previous experience in an industrial setting is an asset
  • Must be able to read and identify labels on containers of waste to determine hazard characteristics
  • Must be able to write in a clear and legible manner
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to get to and from work on a daily basis. The facility is located on a bus route
  • Must possess good verbal communication skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
