Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a full-time Facility Operator (Afternoon Shift) to support operations in Hamilton, ON. The role reports to the Operations Supervisor and involves daily production reporting and handling bulk household hazardous waste.

You will perform physical labor, lift up to 20L, and work in all weather, indoors and outdoors. Forklift license is an asset, and candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Safety and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift license is an asset.
• Experience handling chemicals is an asset.
• Experience in an industrial setting is an asset.
• Must be able to read and identify labels on containers of waste to determine hazard characteristics.
• Must be able to write in a clear and legible manner.
• Must have access to reliable transportation to get to and from work on a daily basis. The facility is located on a bus route.
• Must possess good verbal communication skills.
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Bulk and consolidate household hazardous waste (i.e. paint, stain, solvents, cleaners and aerosols) manually or by machine.
• Perform physical labour by lifting containers up to 20L in size.
• Complete production reports and paperwork.
• Participate in company supplied training.
• Work independently or as part of a team to achieve daily production goals.
• Work safely at all times.
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies:
