Job summary

Beanfield is seeking a Facilities Specialist & Operator to lead POP site installations and ongoing maintenance across our fibre network in Canada. You will ensure power, cooling, and cabling are installed to spec and maintained for high reliability, scaling with demand.

You’ll manage site surveys, equipment placement, and coordination with contractors, while keeping thorough, up‑to‑date documentation and adhering to safety standards across multiple locations in Vancouver and beyond.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in telecom facilities operations and management or ISP infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of DC power plants (-48V) and grounding/bonding.
• Knowledge of HVAC, UPS, generator, and fire suppression systems.
• Proven ability to manage multiple site builds with scope, time, budget, risk, quality, and resources.
• Physical ability to travel to sites, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing the supply chain of physical gear (racks, PDUs, cabling) for sites.
• Basic skills in AutoCAD to draw installation diagrams and floor plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead the installation and upgrades of POP sites, including site surveys and equipment placement.
• Oversee critical facility systems: power, cooling, cabling, and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with third‑party technicians, electricians and riggers to meet standards.
• Conduct site audits for safety, security and environmental health; document outcomes.
• Monitor space, power and cooling to trigger expansion when needed.
• Maintain accurate as-built drawings, rack elevations and power logs.

The Role

The Facilities Specialist & Operator is responsible for installation and maintenance of our Point of Presence (POP) locations. This role focuses on the planning, installation, and upgrading of critical network hardware. You will ensure that our physical sites—including power systems, cooling, rack space, and cabling—are built to spec, maintained for 99.999% reliability, and scaled to meet growing network demands.

What You’ll Do

• POP Installation & Upgrades: Lead the physical deployment of new POP sites and the expansion of existing facilities. This includes site surveys, equipment positioning, and managing
• Infrastructure Management: Oversee critical facility systems:
• Power: Familiar and comfortable with AC and DC power plants, UPS systems, Batteries and backup generators.
• Climate: HVAC and CRAC units to ensure optimal thermal management for telco gear.
• Cabling: Management of fiber pathways, patch panels, and cable ladder systems.
• Vendor & Contractor Management: Supervise third-party technicians, electricians, and riggers during build-outs to ensure work meets industry standards.
• Site Audits: Conduct regular inspections of POP sites to ensure safety compliance, physical security, and environmental health.
• Capacity Planning: Monitor space, power, and cooling utilization to trigger expansion projects before we hit capacity limits.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate "as-built" documentation, rack elevation diagrams, and power consumption logs.

What You Bring

• Experience: 3–5+ years in telecom facilities operations and management, or ISP infrastructure.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of DC power plants (-48V), grounding/bonding.
• General understanding of HVAC, UPS, Generator and Fire Suppression operation.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple site builds simultaneously under tight deadlines. (scope, time, budget, risk, quality, integration, resource management, etc.)
• Physical Requirements: Ability to travel to sites, climb ladders, and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Strong management and leadership skills with solid decision-making, problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing the supply chain of physical gear (racks, PDUs, cabling) to ensure site
• Basic skills of using AutoCAD to draw simple installation diagrams and floor plans
• Communication and reporting skills—you can give a "state of the build" update to leadership that is concise and data-driven.

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.The salary range indicated includes a Short Term Incentive Plan (“STIP”) which represents a percentage of your Base Salary based on the achievement of individual and corporate objectives; The STIP payment is calculated based on a formula that takes into account several factors, including, without limitation, corporate and individual performance measures.
