Job summary

Beanfield is seeking a Facilities Specialist to own the end-to-end lifecycle of our POPs across Canada. You will plan, install, and upgrade critical network hardware, ensuring power, cooling, cabling, and rack space meet exacting specifications and 99.999% reliability.

You’ll lead site surveys, coordinate vendors and contractors, manage NEBS/compliance, and maintain accurate as-built documentation. Travel to sites and lifting up to 50 lbs are required; 3–5+ years in telecom facilities or data

The Role

The Facilities Specialist is responsible for the end‑to‑end lifecycle of our Point of Presence (POP).

You will ensure that our physical sites—including power systems, cooling, rack space, and cabling—are built to spec, maintained for 99.999% reliability, and scaled to meet growing networks demands.

What You’ll Do

POP Installation & Upgrades: Lead the physical deployment of new POP sites and the expansion

of existing facilities. This includes site surveys, equipment positioning, and managing "rip-and-

Infrastructure Management: Oversee critical facility systems:

Power: AC and DC power plants, UPS systems, Batteries and backup generators.

Climate: HVAC and CRAC units to ensure optimal thermal management for telco gear.

Cabling: Management of fiber pathways, patch panels, and cable ladder systems.

Vendor & Contractor Management: Supervise third‑party technicians, electricians, and riggers

during build‑outs to ensure work meets industry standards (e.g., NEBS, BICSI).

Site Audits: Conduct regular inspections of POP sites to ensure safety compliance, physical

security, and environmental health.

Capacity Planning: Monitor space, power, and cooling utilization to trigger expansion projects

before we hit capacity limits.

Documentation: Maintain accurate "as‑built" documentation, rack elevation diagrams, and power

Skills and Qualifications:

Experience: 3–5+ years in telecom facilities management, data center operations, or ISP

infrastructure.

Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of DC power plants (-48V), grounding/bonding, and

fiber optic standards (Single Mode/Multimode).

Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple site builds simultaneously under tight

Physical Requirements: Ability to travel to sites, climb ladders, and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.

Strong management and leadership skills with solid decision‑making, problem‑solving skills.

A "safety‑first" mindset even when moving fast—ensuring all installs meet NEBS or equivalent

carrier‑grade standards.

Experience managing the supply chain of physical gear (racks, PDUs, cabling) to ensure site

builds aren’t delayed by missing parts.

What You Bring

Basic skills of using AutoCAD to draw simple installation diagrams and floor plans

Communication and reporting skills—you can give a "state of the build" update to leadership that is

concise and data‑driven.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications such as BICSI, CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional), or PMP.

Experience with DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) software.

Knowledge of local building codes and fire suppression systems (FM-200/Novec 1230).

Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills (ability to write clearly and concisely)

Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.The salary range indicated includes a Short Term Incentive Plan (“STIP”) which represents a percentage of your Base Salary based on the achievement of individual and corporate objectives; The STIP payment is calculated based on a formula that takes into account several factors, including, without limitation, corporate and individual performance measures. The STIP payment is conditional upon meeting all of the STIP’s eligibility requirements.
