Job summary

District of West Vancouver is seeking a temporary, full-time Facilities Project Coordinator on the North Shore. You will report to the Facilities Asset Project Manager and handle capital projects from charters through closeout, coordinating architects, engineers and contractors to keep schedules on track.

The ideal candidate has a diploma in architecture, civil or mechanical engineering or related trades, plus two years of coordination experience and strong Microsoft Office skills; AutoCAD

Qualifications

• Diploma in architecture, civil or mechanical engineering or related building trades.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Project) required.
• BC Driver's License and a vehicle are required.
• Experience with AutoCAD is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Creating project documentation including charters, drawings, specifications and implementation plans for capital facility projects.
• Coordinating architects, engineers and other professionals on major capital projects.
• Developing project plans for renovations, renewal, energy management and GHG reduction.
• Tracking progress, reporting status and recommending scope changes.
• Coordinating and monitoring commissioning, testing, training and documentation of systems.

The District of West Vancouver has an opening for a temporary, full-time Facilities Project Coordinator.

Reporting to the Facilities Asset Project Manager, this position will be responsible for:

• Creating project documentation including: project charters, drawings and specifications, and project implementation plans for capital facility projects;
• Coordinating architects, engineers, and other professionals in the development of major capital facility projects;
• Developing project plans associated with renovations, facilities capital renewal plan, energy management, and greenhouse gas reduction projects;
• Implementing projects utilizing in-house and/or contractors;
• Tracking project progress, reporting on project status, major issues/obstacles encountered and making recommendations regarding projects scope changes;
• Developing and implementing corrective action plans to mitigate impact to project schedules and overall business objectives;
• Keeping stakeholders aware of project status and ensures effective communication channels are in place;
• Coordinating and/or monitors the commissioning, testing, training, and documentation of various systems related to the respective projects;
• Post-commissioning of building systems on an ongoing basis to ensure optimum performance;
• Coordinating the preparation of the project close-out documentation, including O&M Manuals, warranties and archiving the project records;
• Monitoring contractor performance and insuring project conform to terms and conditions of agreements;
• Coordinating and arranging furniture and equipment moves and installations;
• Preparing budget reports and monthly project cost reports;
• Preparing confidential correspondence, documents and reports;
• Updating the long term facilities renewal database; and
• Other related duties as required

The successful candidate has completed: a Diploma in field related to architecture, civil or mechanical engineering or trades qualification in a building trade, plus 2 years of coordination experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project), a BC Driver’s License and a vehicle are required. Experience in the use of AutoCAD will be considered an asset. Individuals who are currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, a related diploma program are encouraged to apply.

Position Status:

EXEMPT – Temporary, Full-Time

Hours of Work:

35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

$89,200- $100,400 per annum plus 14% in lieu of benefits
